Explanation! What is Gas Piping?

Pipes are essential for the transportation of gas that supports our lives.

Initially, the commonly used type of gas piping was white gas piping, which consisted of steel pipes with a zinc coating. However, when white gas pipes were buried in the ground, the characteristics of the soil and moisture could lead to the formation of an electric circuit due to potential differences. If there were points where electricity could flow into the ground, over time, the zinc coating would dissolve, leading to corrosion. Due to the risk of corrosion progressing and causing gas leaks, white gas piping for burial ceased to be used in the late 1970s. For indoor exposed parts where the risk of corrosion is lower, white gas pipes are still used. Currently, the main types of gas pipes used for burial are corrosion-resistant polyethylene pipes and coated steel pipes, where the surface of the steel pipe is covered with plastic. Over time, it is recommended to replace buried white gas pipes.

Equally important same as corrosion resistance is seismic resistance. Gas supply is a crucial lifeline in our daily lives for necessities like hot water, cooking, and heating/cooling. If the supply of gas, which is essential, is disrupted, it can have significant consequences. In the event of a gas leak, it can lead to serious issues affecting human lives. With the occurrence of recent major earthquakes, to enhance the seismic resilience of gas pipelines is proceeded.

In Higashio Mech, we believe that the technology and experience we have cultivated over the years in the development of various fittings for water supply, refrigerants, and more can also be applied to fittings for gas pipelines. We aspire to become a fitting manufacturer that safeguards your lives with high-quality fittings that are secure and leak-free.
